Statistics: Russia’s business confidence rises in processing in Jan

MOSCOW, Feb 1 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Business Confidence Index fell in the mineral production industry and in the production and distribution of power, gas and water on the month in January, but grew in the processing sector, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement Monday citing a poll of more than 3,000 companies.

“The Business Confidence Index, which reflects generalized entrepreneurs’ behavior, in the mineral production industry fell to minus 6% in January 2016 from minus 5% in December 2015, in the production and distribution of power, gas and water it fell to minus 2% from 2%, but in the processing industry it increased to minus 7% from minus 11%,” the statement read.

The improvement of the situation in the mineral extraction sector was expected by 18% of respondents, 9 percentage points more than the number of respondents forecasting a worse situation. The number of optimists in the processing sector stood at 25% of respondents, 13 percentage points more than the amount of pessimists.
